August

It has been too long.
Here are some pieces I have been working on.
I am trying to explore what defines us as "women", our plight as mothers friends and in work, in play, the idea of woman as artists and creators beyond their "womenly" duties but as artist, capable workers and half of this society as a whole.
Whatever, I am

"Lady and Deer" $900 Oil on canvas

I finished this painting about 3 months ago. It was inspired by deer hunters and Chaim Soutine. I was happy with it when I finished, but as it sits on my living room wall I am deeply drawn to it. the sun hits the colors of her face and the red of her dress, it is starting to become my favorite painting. I would love to hear your thoughts.

"There is beauty in destruction" 60x40 SOLD

What will destroy art is a lack of interest, as Rich said laziness to appreciate and think. In our fast pace society we want to look only at images for a mere moment and then we immediately want to be impressed by yet another image. This will kill art. This is destroying art. Slow down take a minute and please enjoy.

I am losing my self to try to please others but art is about the artist not the critic. If you like it then why? If you hate it...why?

Thanks and AHHHHHHH

New Painting "Frida and Me"

Well it has been a long time. I have been working on a series that I have been hoping to show in the summer, so I have been kind of cloak and dagger. However in between I painted this of Frida Kahlo. It was funny because when I started painting it I thought it would be fun to do a self portrait with the general idea of Fridas painting and her eyebrow. However I changed my mind and thought of just painting Frida. When Rich saw it his first reaction was "it looks like a merge of you and Frida". So I guess perhaps I did unintentionally achieve my first idea. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I hope you all have a fun and happy holiday.

New Painting "Compost" SOLD PRIVATE COLLECTOR

Okay no one told me those pictures sucked. So my darling husband was nice enough to retake them for me.
Ahhh this has been such an ongoing project, I have no idea if I am finished it, or if I just cannot stand to look at it anymore. I really must say I enjoyed working on a painting to cover it with dirt, how exhilirating. The still life is composed trash all things disposable left to rehabit the earth in the form of nourishment for plants and animals. Painted with dirt, trash, coffee, old photos, and alot of thought from me. I hope you like it and I would love to hear your thoughts.
